William John Badger
Board Member
William John (Billy) Badger was born in his parent’s house in Augusta, Georgia, on September 18, 1950.
Badger graduated from the Academy of Richmond County. He earned a BBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. In 1976 he married Julie Textor of Atlanta. They have four children.
He owned and operated Howard Lumber Company from 1975 until his retirement in 2016. In 1997 he acquired Augusta Sash and Door Company which he managed until 2016.
In 1988 Badger was an organizer and founding member of Georgia Bank and Trust Company where he served on its board as well as the board of Southern Bank Financial Corporation from its founding until 2017. He served on the board and as president of Augusta Builders Exchange and on the board and as chairman of the Construction Suppliers Association. He served as a board member of Augusta Country Club, the Kiwanis Club of Augusta, the Augusta Museum of History, Episcopal Day School, and Augusta Preparatory Day School. Badger was an adult leader in the Boys Scouts of America and enjoyed seeing his scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout.
A member of Saint Paul’s Church, Badger served on the vestry and as both the Junior and Senior Warden.
An avid open water swimmer Badger once raced the Hellespont from Europe to Asia.
